The stray cloud
2026This photo has been staged, it was conceived because I occasionally knock out a filter from our vacuum cleaner outside and then there is always emerges a kind of dust cloud! Then I thought I would look for a suitable location (forest) and beat out the filter there and quickly take a photo.
Cornelis le Mair
2025This is the artist Cornelis le Mair in his studio and house (old farm). He paints in a traditional way with a preference for still life and portrait in a style of the old masters. In addition, he also makes musical instrument from the past, furniture, sculptures etc....
The blueberry bird
2025This blueberry looked quite photogenic, it is not an A.I. image!
The relax chair
2025I saw this chair at Warsaw airport (Poland), I had to take a picture ot it, especially because of the combination with the young lady and her shoes!

2025This photo comes from a long-term "project" (10 years) in which I made a kind of portrait of an old small farmer in and around his (dilapidated) farm. This was a part of the kitchen.

2017This best man sat at a brothel on the red light district (Wallen) in Amsterdam. I found him intriguing certainly also because of his damaged nose!

2016This young lady was standing near Times Square (Manhattan) and you could take a picture with her, but I'd rather take a picture of her!
The swimmer
2016This best man swam in the Atlantic Ocean at Coney Island (Brooklyn, NYCity) almost daily throughout the year. When I took this picture it was mid-October and about a degree or 15!
Dog weather
2016This dog(gy), was walked while it was storming and pouring rain, he had special shoes on so he wouldn't get wet paws!
Anachronism
2015This picture is from a series about old farms and their inhabitants. The farm was no longer active and quite run down, it seemed as if time had stopped!
The little farmer
2015This is Peer Smulders a small & quirky farmer who has lived and worked in his parents farm all his life (97 years). This was in the winter of 2015 in the kitchen by the wood stove
The gardener!
2014This best man was busy making his spot on the campsite even more beautiful! He probably thought it was a bit strange that I wanted to photograph him, but in the end it was okay. This image has also become a photo postcard via Art Unlimited. De Panne, Belgium (summer 2014)
Mohawkman
2014This is Jochem, I have portrayed him several times at various moments in his life. I've known him since he was born. This photo was taken in a squat in the centre of Den Bosch where he lived at that time.
The smithy
2013This photo was taken in the last city smithy of Den Bosch (Netherlands). The smithy was already closed but still intact. There has been a smithy at this address since the beginning of the 16th century!
The lady
2009This young lady participated in the knight's games in Den Bosch, she was one of the re-enactors. I loved her and apart from her clothes and other attributes she had the look and feel of someone from the Middle Ages!

2001I met this young lady on the street in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand
The boxing club
2000This photo is from a series with the subject of the Rotterdam boxing club "the Dutch Windmill" in Crooswijk. At that time (2000) a number of men of age ( between the ages of 70 & 90!) trained and sparred here every week. I also made a portrait of most of the men.

2000this best man was sitting in a park in the centre of Santiago d Chile. I Take photos of other photographers more often.
The clogmakers
1999These 2 men (brothers) had a small clog factory. I made a series of them, at that time (1999) they were one of the last clogmakers in the Netherlands.

1999This was for an assignment during my documentary and journalism studies at the photo academy in Amsterdam. This is Mieke, an acquaintance from that time (1999) who was willing to pose for me.

1996This is a part of the Sierra Madre in Mexico it is a rugged and old landscape with beautiful clouds above it.

1996This image (originally a slide shot) comes from a series with the subject of medieval still life paintings. I have put together and photographed arrangements myself.

1995I met these 2 men (probably a couple?) during the Tattoo Convention at the Berlage fair in Amsterdam. I had to capture them!
Rock n Roll
1994From a series about rock n roll in the Netherlands & Belgium where I occasionally worked on from 1993 to the end of the 90s. This portrait was taken during a festival held annually at the Cruise Inn in Amsterdam.

1993This (wild) man was standing in a kind of park in the center of Budapest (Hungary). I found him interesting to capture.

1993This "tiger" was busy in the center of Budapest and he wanted to pose!

1993I met these fancy people by chance in the Budapest zoo, and I found them "suitable" to capture!

1993This (tiny) house I came across on Inishmore (one of the Aran islands) off the west coast of Ireland.

1993This photo is from a series I made in the mid- 1990s with the subject of rock 'n roll in the Netherlands and Belgium. This was made in the southern Limburg town of Elsloo during a Rock 'n Roll meeting
Ice fun
1992Ice skating on the river Dommel in the center of Den Bosch. This is a scene you almost never see again, at that time (nineties) the Dommel still regularly froze over. But that is a thing of the past! This picture was also issued as a postcard by Art Unlimited.
Tarzan (king of the Jungle)
1992This tough man was hanging in a tree on the Leidse square in Amsterdam, he was a kind of street artist / performer. And he probably needed the attention he was getting!
